“I think whatʻs important in my music is the melody.
I try to express my feeling by creating arrangements that brings the melody out nicely, and I think the Kamaka ʻukulele matches the most to my style..”
In just a few short years, 14-year-old ʻukulele prodigy, RIO, has shown great promise with his musical skills and abilities. Having performed at music festivals throughout Asia, RIO has also performed in notable U.S.A. venues as far away as New York City and Honolulu; capturing 1st place at Amateur Night at Apollo Theater in New York City and making periodic on-stage performances at the Hard Rock Café - Honolulu. RIO has also garnered first place accolades at Duke's ʻUkulele Contest and at the Royal Hawaiian Annual International ʻUkulele Contest. RIO's other interest with ʻukulele is in the development of his own style of music and playing. This interest has subsequently led him towards receiving an Award of Excellence at the Diner's Club Social Jazz Session 2013-14. Additionally, thanks to opportunities for the performances at TEDxYouth@Tokyo, TEDxTokyo Teachers Conference, and TEDxTokyo.
RIO released his first full album in 2015, filled with RIO Music along with original songs.
